Light Up Your Holidays with NTC Promenade and Liberty Station

Holiday Decor at Liberty Station

As you make your personal and business plans for holiday celebrations, be sure to include festivities at NTC Promenade and the rest of Liberty Station. You will find the atmosphere and ambiance delightful!

One of the first events to take place will be Friday Night Liberty on December 4. Galleries, studios and ensemble groups throughout NTC Promenade will open their doors so you can enjoy art, music, dance and more – and all at no charge! There’s even talk that this might blossom into a holiday open house for all of Liberty Station so you can see how local businesses have decked the halls of their offices.

Woven through the month of December, there will be various live entertainers in the retail districts. And then on Saturday, December 12, a family celebration will include a special visit from old St. Nick himself.

With evergreens and twinkling lights, think of this as the perfect place to host a year-end celebration for your clients and employees. It’s been a challenging year and this is the perfect opportunity to thank everyone for hanging in there with you.

We still have rooms, large and small, available for your last minute booking. And you’ll be pleased with our recession-friendly pricing!

Don’t delay any longer! Call (619) 573-9260 to book your space now! And let the merriment begin!

Dewey Elementary Students Study Science in a Whole New Way!

Liberty School StudentMrs. Montijo’s third graders from Dewey Elementary School have been busy at the NTC Promenade’s Liberty School creating beautiful fabric art at the Visions Art Quilt Gallery. These youngsters are studying science in a whole new way – through fabric art. Demonstrating their knowledge of the earth, the science that they are studying at Dewey, students have designed artistic interpretations of volcanoes, mountain ranges, oceans and rivers. By studying the work of Emily Richardson, whose art features impressionistic collages of hand painted silks that are presently being exhibited at the Visions Art Quilt Gallery, students have learned to layer materials to provide depth and illusion to their work. One student thoughtfully declared that his art piece was “something to keep his family traditions going, passing things down from one family to another.” Another child stated: “My mother has bought me a sewing kit and now when one of my stuffed animals has a hole, I can fix it.” Students’ works are on display at Visions Art Quilt Gallery, 2825 Dewey Road, Suite 100. Stop by and take a look. Hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Liberty School Program - funded by a major grant from San Diego National Bank - offers public school students, an innovative learning experience that enriches standards-based curriculum with project-based learning strategies using the rich and diverse resources of arts, culture and science organizations in residence at NTC Promenade. These classes are led by NTC resident artists and offer students an opportunity to experience learning through hands-on activities.

Please consider making a donation to support The Liberty School Program, so we can continue to offer hands-on, innovative experiences to more students throughout San Diego County. Donate now.
