Sophie's Gallery presents art exhibit: Ahmet Ustunel
Ceramic artist Ahmet Ustunel uses a pottery wheel and hand building techniques in making his creations. Totally blind since the age of three, he never considered blindness as an obstacle to getting involved with art or creating his own works. On the contrary, he believes it makes him more imaginative. Ahmet equates texture with what color means to a sighted artist. He feels each piece when it comes out of the kiln, checking the glaze for bubbles, textures and other chemical reactions that make the piece complete.
